Call for Applications: The ASA Minority Fellowship Program

Minority Fellowship ProgramSince 1974, the ASA Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) has supported more than 500 sociologists of color. A list of these scholars can be found on the ASA website. MFP is supported by significant annual contributions from Sociologists for Women in Society, Alpha Kappa Delta, and the Midwest Sociological Society, along with the Association of Black Sociologists, the Southwestern Sociological Association, the Eastern Sociological Society, the Pacific Sociological Association, the Southern Sociological Society, ASA Council, and numerous individual ASA members.

In order to apply, eligible applicants must be enrolled in (and have completed one full academic year) in a program that grants a PhD in sociology at the tme of applying. Applicants must be members of an underrepresented racial/ethnic minority group in the U.S. (e.g., Blacks/African-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians or Pacific Islanders, or American Indians/Alaska Naties). Applicants must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals of the U.S., or have been lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence.

Application deadline is January 31st; notifications are made by April 30th. The Fellowship is awarded for 12 months. Tuition and fees are arranged with the home department.
